The Petawawa Bassmasters were recently presented a plaque from the Ministry of Natural Resources in recognition for their participation and support of it’s annual “Lets Get Fishing” day. The day is setup to give children that normally would not get a chance to fish, a day filled with fishing, knowledge and fun. For the past two years Petawawa Bassmasters have setup a casting display to help teach the kids the different methods of getting the bait to the fish using various techniques such as pitching and flipping. By using the Casting Kids program endorsed by the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.), the children were able to achieve their goal.

2004 Ontario Junior Team
For all those members of the Petawawa Bassmasters who participated – well done! It is through community and Ministry of Natural Resources involvement, our participation in these youth activities will ensure that our future in youth angling will be a bright one. The Petawawa Bassmasters look forward to this years’ event being as successful and fulfilling as the past two have been.
The Pettawawa Bassmasters are one of 30 clubs belonging to the Ontario B.A.S.S. Federation (OBF). Although a tournament driven organization, OBF clubs here in Ontario are involved with youth fishing activities and conservation projects as well as their own bass tournaments. The OBF is one of 51 federations around the world belonging to B.A.S.S – the world’s largest fishing organization. There are 46 federations in the U.S. and one in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Japan, Italy and of course Ontario.
