OBFN Team Ontario

NAME: Jason Barnucz
How did you get onto Team Ontario?

In 2002 my wife Heather and I moved from Peterborough, Ontario to Guelph, Ontario. This move took me away from the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario and it was a little disheartening. I joined the OBF through the KW-Cambridge Bassmasters in March of 2003. This decision allowed me to get back on the water and fishing on a regular basis. Through the KWC chapter I got back to honing my bass fishing skills. In 2005 I finished 2nd place in the KWC Angler of the Year competition. Through this finish I qualified to fish in the 2006 Hank Gibson Provincial Qualifier. Due to my success in 2005 I set out to compete in the 2006 Provincial Qualifier and do my best to qualify for Team Ontario. The rest is history.

How does being a member of an OBFN chapter help you be a better angler/person?

In the past two years I have moved chapters from the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge Chapter to the Lindsay Bassmasters. Both of these chapters have helped me to continue improving as a bass angler. Learning from my mistakes and carefully observing the success of fellow anglers has helped me become a more successful and confident angler.

Anyone you want to thank?

I would like to thank my wife, Heather Surette. Heather is my loudest supporter and toughest critic. Through her support and encouragement I have been able to achieve many angling milestones. I would like to thank my boaters in the 2006 Qualifier, Pepe Parisien (Day 1) and Chris Marling (Day 2) for two great days on the water. I would also like to thank the members of the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge Bassmasters and the Lindsay Bassmasters for their support and encouragement.
